It is common at this time of year to reflect on the closing of a year and seek out lessons or reminders. For all of us, I think we can agree that 2024 was a year in which we were reminded of God’s unwavering faithfulness, especially in the middle of extraordinary challenges.  This past year was unprecedented, one we could not have predicted or planned. Yet, in every moment, we were reminded of God’s faithfulness, were front-row witnesses to His grace, and through it all, we have been strengthened as we pressed into Him. Thanks be to God.

A Year of Challenges and Faith
One of those “extraordinary challenges” mentioned above, was the decision and action of moving our children from Bercy – out of harm’s way – to a shared space at another orphanage. As a Board, we did not make this decision lightly. Each of us prayed fervently for the best course of action.  In these moments, we say the truth of Isiah 41: 10 (NIV)

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

We have witnessed God’s provision and guidance. What a gift of assurance was offered to us by our Father.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Given how our 2024 ended it has not dampened us. We boldly step into 2025 with renewed hope and determination. We remain committed to our mission: “At CHM, our Christ-centered children’s home, schools, and churches work together to share the good news of Jesus with the people of Haiti.” Through prayer, we are planning initiatives to continue to protect and provide for our children and staff, empower local leaders, and serve as a source of hope for our Haitian community. How can we do this, amongst all the political unrest, you ask? We do so, because of Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

A Call to Partner in Hope
As 2024 draws to a close, we humbly ask you to consider supporting CHM. We covet your prayers and appreciate your prayers for guidance in the year ahead. Please visit our website and pray over the board members specifically that they will collectively make the best decisions for our children.

In addition to prayers, we need financial support. We welcome child sponsors who pour into the life of an individual child by offering financial stability. We encourage you to give a generous year-end donation to assist us as we prepare a new base location, as we have had to leave behind our estate.
