The Beauty of Cabaret Haiti Mission
Guest blogger: Mark Seagle
There is something freeing about being a part of Cabaret Haiti Mission. There is an abundance of beauty and wonder; hope and possibility; sorrow and brokenness; hunger and hardship; and love and joy. This multi-faceted hue of the mission resonates of the grace and goodness of God in the most destitute, yet abundant of places. As I consider CHM, my heart runs to the songs of the children in the dawn of each morning; the joy and laughter each afternoon on the benches out front; the hike up the mountain each evening, to the holy and sacred place. I love this place and I thank my God for its people. It is my joyful place. It is assuredly not always ‘happy’ in Haiti, but there is a plethora of joy that flows from the grace of God through His image bearers at CHM.
I believe this is true because we are assured His blessing as we serve, give and go. From the Scripture, James promises us that we are pure and undefiled every time that we step among the vulnerable and serve and love well.
Perhaps, the beauty of CHM is that I consider myself the ‘vulnerable’ every time that I am among the village of Bercy and the work of CHM. It is my heart that is encouraged when I am with them. It is my soul that longs for the serenity that I experience among my friends in CHM. It is my sense of awe as I share in their creativity, passion and love for life. It is my longing to dance with them as they dance as David before the Lord. (my dance skills are deeply lacking)
I am thankful to invest my life, resources and heart into this mission. Each time that I sponsor, give or go, it is my joy to be the one that is most blessed. Please consider merging your heart and your resources with Cabaret Haiti Mission. You can do so through sponsoring a child; giving to the mission and/or going when the doors to Haiti open again. I cannot wait for that day! Join with God in what He calls pure and undefiled. That just seems right.
