As a resident of Florida, I often jest about our state’s seasons, from Snowbird Season to Hurricane Season. Yet, amidst the occasional inconveniences, we’re far from crisis. However, just 700 miles away lies Haiti, a nation grappling with a political crisis.
Haiti, aptly named “the land of mountains,” is not only geologically prone to earthquakes but also burdened by systemic poverty, making it one of the world’s poorest countries. Presently, it faces a dire political crisis, overrun by violent gangs. Politicians and officials offer no protection, as many of them are intertwined with the gangs. Needless to say, daily life is marred by fear and uncertainty, leaving many feeling hopeless.
Yet, in the face of despair, there is hope. Hope enables us to discern promise amid devastation, to find beauty in chaos, and light in darkness. Let us, therefore, don the cloak of hope and wield it as our shield.
To our Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ, take solace in the words of 2 Timothy 4:18: “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” Rest assured; God’s plan will be fulfilled.
For all of us, I implore fervent prayer. Let us approach God boldly, passionately, and sincerely, as promised in John 14:13-14: “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Join me in lifting our Haitian family in prayer.
Heavenly Father,
We come before you with heavy hearts, lifting up the nation of Haiti in prayer. As they navigate through the tumultuous storms of political unrest, violence, and uncertainty, we ask for your divine intervention. Bring comfort to those who are living in fear and despair and grant them the strength to hold onto hope. Surround them with your peace that surpasses all understanding, and guide them through these difficult times.
We also lift up the leaders and authorities in Haiti, asking for wisdom, discernment, and a heart for peace and justice. May they seek the welfare of their nation and work towards unity and reconciliation.
Lord, we trust in your promises, knowing that you are a God of compassion and mercy. We cling to the hope found in your Word, believing that you will rescue Haiti from every evil deed and bring them safely into your heavenly kingdom.
In the midst of adversity, may your light shine brightly in Haiti, illuminating the path towards healing, restoration, and renewal. May your love and grace abound, bringing transformation to hearts and communities.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus,
Thanks for sharing. As I read your blog, I feel the struggle. My heart breaks for the people of Haiti, especially for those we personally know at CHM. I’m looking forward to God answering those prayers we all share for Haiti.
